LISTSERVE RULES & GUIDELINES

The AALA provides an email exchange for its members for use in connection with AALA business.  You are asked to follow these few guidelines:
  • Messages should be limited to the conduct of business pertaining to AALA or legal administration. 
  • AALA email lists may not be used for non-AALA related solicitations or commercial use.
  • The forwarding of messages outside the AALA email exchange is prohibited.
  • You should not communicate anything in an email message that you would not state in a memorandum or letter using AALA's or your firm's letterhead. 
  • Email messages should not contain content that may create a hostile environment and/or be reasonably considered offensive or disruptive to any AALA member.
  • Per ALA's Antitrust Guide, no ALA member is permitted to discuss the following using the AALA email exchange:
    • Do not discuss current or future billing rates, fees, disbursement charges or other items that could be construed as "price." Further, be very careful of discussions of past billing rates, fees or prices.
    • Do not discuss what is a fair profit, billing rate or wage level.  The Atlanta Chapter's Annual Salary Survey fulfills this need within appropriate guidelines for salary and benefits information.  Commercially available economic surveys provide billing rates and similar information.
    • Do not discuss an increase or decrease in price, fees or wages, or disbursement charges.  In this regard, remember that interest charges are considered an item of price.

AALA reserves the right to terminate access to any user who does not abide by these guidelines.
