Are you getting the most out of your AALA membership?  Be sure you are taking advantage of all that is offered to you!

Membership in AALA offers opportunities for:

  • Knowledge sharing and networking
  • Professional development
  • Professional recognition

Instant Access to Other Law Firm Managers

AALA members have instant access to other members through our chapter listserv and peer consulting. Our listserv is a favorite resource of members as it provides an immediate opportunity to post a question, ask advice, see what other firms are doing and post open job positions.

Education Opportunities

The Chapter offers at least 25 educational opportunities for our members each year through our monthly AALA Chapter Meetings and Section Meetings. Topics are selected to appeal to a wide variety of members. The Chapter has six Sections that address the needs of specific administrative specialties. Section meetings provide a speaker on a topic of specific interest to those administrators or offer members the opportunity to exchange ideas within their specialty. The Chapter also has a study group to help members organize and focus efforts to prepare for and complete the Certified Legal Manager (CLM) exam. The Chapter provides numerous scholarships to the ALA Annual Conference and the ALA Region 2 Conference each year.

Networking Opportunities

The Chapter offers numerous opportunities to network with other members. To accommodate all schedules, AALA offers several events during the day as well as several socials that occur in the evening. All our events are opportune times to interact with your peers and make worthwhile connections. Business Partners are often invited to our events and provide additional value.

Business Partner Relationships

The right products and services are key to successful legal administration. The Chapter promotes positive relationships with our business partners. Without their support many of the programs provided to members would not be possible. Our current Business Partner Sponsorship Program allows vendors to support the Chapter at various levels and in turn participate in select Chapter events. Business Partner participation provides members with the opportunity to learn about the products and services that can help them accomplish their goals. Once a year Business Partners are invited to exhibit at our Chapter Business Partner Exposition (aka E2E: Where Education Meets Expertise). Approximately 75 vendors participate each year. Members and their colleagues network with Business Partners in an exhibit hall and find solutions to nagging problems.

Member Mentor Program

It is widely recognized that we can all learn from others, and we can all teach others. A lot of this happens naturally. This program is designed to supplement what happens naturally by eliminating barriers and bringing together those who are willing to share with one another. Our goal is to shorten the learning curve of our members and help them succeed at whatever they set out to do. It is our hope that this program will provide ideas, inspiration, and practical experience for those attempting to set up or improve associate mentor programs in their own firms and legal departments.

Online Resources and Publications

With the click of a mouse members can obtain any and all information they need about the Chapter or ALA at the Chapter's award-winning web site, Among its many resources, users can check the calendar of events (ALA and Chapter), register for meetings, join the listserv, obtain member contact information in the Member Directory as well as the listing of our Business Partner Sponsors and their contact information. There are also other resources posted such as articles from speakers and business partners and copies of the Minutes of the Board of Directors.

Salary & Benefits Survey

The Chapter conducts a local Salary and Benefits survey on a bi-annual basis. This survey is offered at a greatly reduced price for participating firms and a discount for members. AALA also works with ALA to prepare and distribute their Annual Salary and Benefits Survey. These surveys are invaluable tools for members to use for local and national market information.

Community Service

The Chapter supports and encourages community service. Several times a year Members and Business Partners participate in community service projects. Projects have included partnerships with Hands On Atlanta, Toys for Tots, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Boys & Girls Club of Metro Atlanta and Susan G. Komen through volunteer work and fundraising initiatives. In 2012, the Chapter chose one mission and supported that mission all year long. We chose to support Westlake High School. We visited the high school twice for college application and scholarship nights and we participated in a clean-up day at the school with 100 students. Late in 2012, AALA also participated in The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program for the holidays. The Chapter was able to support over 100 Angels for The Salvation Army.
