AALA Samaritan Outreach Request

Friends, we are experiencing unprecedented times amid the COVID-19 pandemic.  Many of our members have experienced a complete upheaval in our work and home lives.  As always, AALA is concerned about its members and recently received an excellent suggestion that we are going to implement through Community Engagement:  Samaritan Outreach.  The purpose of Samaritan Outreach is to assist AALA members who are experiencing acute financial hardship as a result of the pandemic.  Financial gifts toward this initiative will be made directly by members.  The AALA Samaritan Outreach program will follow these guidelines:

  • This program will be confidential but for the necessary involvement of the team administering it.Those requesting help or making pledges will be contacted in person by Jennifer Cochran, AALA Board member, or Jose Romera, Committee member.
  • The initial time frame to request assistance will be through June 30th.  At that point, pledges and requests for help will be evaluated to see if there is an ongoing need as well as funding to support the requests.
  • As this is strictly peer to peer giving, financial gifts are not considered tax-deductible.
  • As needed, pledges will be converted to financial gifts by making a payment to a specified AALA account.  The funds will be used to purchase Walmart e-gift cards to be delivered via e-mail.
  • Though this process will be confidential, we will report to the Board and AALA community regarding the number of individuals helped through this initiative so you can see your efforts at work!

If you or a member of your household has experienced a loss of work or other acute financial hardship related to the current crisis, please complete the Samaritan Outreach REQUEST** form below. Your submission will be kept in the strictest of confidence.

**Because we cannot anticipate pledges, our ability to provide help will potentially fluctuate.  We will do our best to provide equal and fair distribution of assistance to those who request it.
